Camp Fosters Healthy Lives for Working Girls

Healthy_Lives_for_Working_Girls
The YWCA camp for girls recently opened June 27th. The camp targets girls, ages twelve to fourteen. Camp lasts for a few weeks and begins around 8am, lasting until noon. While at the camp, girls have the opportunity to develop healthy lives for working girls. In addition, they have crafts, games, field trips, and discussions about self esteem. Hopefully, camp participants will leave the camp with higher self esteem and good eating/life patterns that will last for years to come. The camp features the Girls on the Run curriculum that is targeted to girls of this age group. The cost to attend camp is $50 for YWCA members and $60 for non-members.

Healthy Lives for Working Girls

healthy_lives_for_working_girls The Girl Scouts have noticed something about American children these days. They are overweight and less active. They are eating more junk food and spending less time outdoors. The Girl Scouts is trying to change this new phenomenon. Since its founding, the Girl Scouts have tried to provide programs that promote self-confidence and skills for a happy life. Now they are incorporating self-confidence through good health, hoping that Girl Scouts all over the country will learn how to make good decions about their health. Thus, creating healthy lives for working girls.

Programs are as follows (courtesy of http://www.girlscoutsbayarea.org/pages/initiatives/hghl/index.html)
